Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be happier because that means that summer is around the corner. As you guys know I live in Rhode Island and the temperatures change in a blink of an eye. In the morning I could be wearing a sweater and later that same day I could be wearing a dress because you never know what’s going to happen with the weather. I remember at first when I moved here I wasn’t used to it. Being originally from an island where it’s sunny all the time, I always knew what to wear. Now that I live in Rhode Island, with time I’ve discovered the perfect solution for those days where the temperatures are all over the place and I don’t know what to wear. That solution is to wear DENIM!
Why I love wearing denim during spring? Well… because you can’t go wrong with denim.
- Looks good on everyone.
- Works great with layers of clothing underneath in case you live in a place like me where the temperatures drop.
- Because it’s casual and versatile.
I could tell you a thousand reasons why I love wearing denim jeans. I mean who doesn’t? But the reality is that I feel comfortable and confident wearing denim because reminds me of home. It’s a classic clothing piece that connects with my authenticity and for some reason reminds me of my favorite moments like when I was 9 or 10 (I don’t remember the exact age) and wore to school a pair of denim jeans that had leopard print at the bottom. I remember feeling so fabulous and so happy because I was wearing a pair of jeans that suited my personality. For some, a pair of jeans is just that but for me brings good memories because it represents happy moments.
Speaking of happy moments, I’m super excited because Walmart launched a campaign called We Dress America that celebrates authenticity, diversity, and fashion for all! You guys now that I’m all about that because I believe we all deserve to feel and look our best! I’m glad that Walmart stands for unity and is compromised to bring a variety of clothing at amazing prices for everyone.

Now I want to share with you a denim guide that has helped me to find the perfect denim jeans. This is plus size edition but I also think this can be helpful to anyone that is looking for the perfect pair of jeans.
Plus Size Denim Guide:
- What style do you like? Crop jeans, boot cut or…?
Decide what looks and feels good on you. How? Trying on different styles, that’s the only way!
- Which color is your preference?
I used to wear “light wash” but I’ve realized that I prefer dark wash because goes more with the pieces that I already have in my closet. I also like to wear gray, but during this time I try to just wear a classic medium or darker wash to keep my outfits more spring friendly.
- Find your size and make alterations!
I recommend following the size chart and your measurements but if you are like me that often forget to look at the measurements. Try jeans on and then if you think you need some adjustments, send it to the tailor. It’s easy and that way it will look perfect on you!
- With or Without Stretch?
As a plus size women, I always recommend what I prefer for my body. After trying with and without stretch, I tend to prefer jeans that have stretch because they are more comfortable and favorable.
I discovered last year that Walmart carries amazing jeans for us curvy gals but also for everyone! I’m currently wearing a Wide Leg Casual Pant from a brand they have called: Time & Tru. What I love about these is that they are cropped and modern. They have the right amount of stretch and are super comfortable. This is the type of denim I like to wear during spring because looks stylish and effortless. I wore it with a classic 3/4 Sleeve Classic Boatneck Top in white and a denim jacket because I love the denim on denim look, it’s versatile and very “New England Casual Style”. Last but definitely not least I completed the look with these Time & Tru neutral sandals that are only $7.98, Can you believe it? They are super comfortable and perfect for spring, I love them!
