We can embrace our Natural Beauty in different ways. Embracing makeup-free skin or proudly showing off your curves are great examples. These are revolutionary ways to say “I love myself” and also send a reminder to everyone who may need that extra support in order to say “Yes, I am naturally beautiful and I don’t need to change anything about me because I was born unique and authentic”. That’s why I wanted to share today how I celebrate my authenticity and natural beauty through my hair, yes my hair!
I’ve always shared tips and tricks about styling my hair using hot tools which isn’t the most natural way to treat your hair. But today I wanted to do things a little bit different. I wanted to show you how I style my curly hair without hot tools or anything complicated because I think it is important to remind ourselves that we all have unique beauty. And no, we do not need to look the same to be beautiful. It’s all about embracing what makes us different, I think that’s the true meaning of beauty.
Story time:
My hair is naturally wavy/curly but after years of using flat irons my hair lost that look and became stiff and dry. It was when I decided to eliminate the flat iron from my hair routine that I notice a huge difference in my hair. It became alive and with time I started wearing it curly/wavy. I would say that’s one of the practices that made my hair grow long in a short period of time. That’s why I always emphasize, if you want to have long, healthy hair I highly recommend your rock your natural hair, it makes a huge difference.

Now that I have long hair again I like to
I keep my hair looking super glossy and pretty all day with the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie. This product conditions the hair and gives me the confidence to go out with my natural hair. This product and it’s anti frizz provides the perfect amount of body and shine to the hair. Generally speaking, SheaMoisture products are great because they are Sulfate Free, Paraben Free, Mineral Oil Free, Petroleum Free, Paraffin Free, Synthetic Color Free, Gluten Free, etc which makes me love the products even more.
Here is a step by step of how I use SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus In My Curly Hair Routine:
- The first step is to make sure my hair is entirely wet, I apply a little SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo gently massaging the scalp to make sure I achieve the best results. Then I rinse the product.
- I apply the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner focusing the product on the ends of my hair. I leave it for 3-4 minutes and then I begin detangle my hair, starting from the ends of my hair with a wide tooth comb. After, I rinse the product.
- I dry my hair a little with an old t-shirt (to avoid Frizz) and divide my hair into 4 sections. I apply SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie to add curl definition in each area. I like to take small pieces and twist them to make sure my hair has a pretty curl.
- To create volume I flip my hair upside down and scrunch it while my hair is still wet, to add bounce to the curls.
- Last but not least I let my hair air-dry when I do this routine because the whole purpose is to avoid using hot tools. But if you are in a hurry I recommend you use a blow dryer with cold air to avoid damage.
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo, SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner and the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie are perfect for curly thick frizzy hair like mine. My boyfriend loves this line because he also has curly hair and it leaves his hair looking beautiful. If you are looking for products that are accessible and great for curly hair I recommend you check these out, I bought them at Walmart.
Now, What Hairstyles I Do When I Use my Curly Hair? Well, I have a few depending on how many days I’ve been using my natural hair.
Day 1 – Fresh Hair with Accessories!
For day one, I like to wear my hair down because looks the best. That’s why I use hair accessories like this clip. Since hair clips are super on trend right now and it’s actually a trend that I love I decided would be a great idea to share a DIY of a hair clip. You only need metal clips and rhinestones with adhesive on them. I did a few using different sizes and loved the result. The best part? I only spend $3 on everything!
Day 2 – Low Bun Hairstyle!
For day two, I like to wear a high or low bun because it makes you look cute without spending a lot of time doing the hair.
To create this particular low bun I divide the hair into two sections and then tie them in a knot. I repeat the step until there’s no more hair left. Then I use bobby pins to secure the hairstyle. This look looks great for the day or night, it’s very classic and pretty.
Day 3 – Front Braided Crown!
This hairstyle is one of my favorites because when I wear braids I feel like I’m embracing my culture, my uniqueness and I love it. I prefer to wear this hairstyle without makeup and natural because to me it is an effortless look that I can wear to run errands or at the beach with a cute swimsuit. If I wear makeup with this hairstyle I feel weird (I’ve done it lol) that’s why I prefer to keep it all natural.
This hairstyle is actually very simple you just need to do two braids, then secure with an elastic band. I make the braid messier and bigger to have that effortless look. I take both of the braids and fold them over my head and twist them around each other where the braids meet. After that, I secure them with bobby pins and the look is ready.
These are hairstyles that I will be wearing during spring and summer because they are super easy! Let me know in the comments which Hairstyle you like the most!
